Sherman Mazur didn't like Rice than and still doesn't

Sherman Mazur asks; What was Rice thinking? It is easy to take shots at A-Rod and Manny. But how do you classify Jeter in that category? Jeter who recently has the most hits by a shortstop in major league history, multiple world champion has never done in his career to warrant an attack by Jim Rice. As a HOF, Rice is an ambassador to the game and needs to act accordingly. He should be protecting the game and the players who exemplify the best of todays game such as Jeter. What was he thinking? He is an emarrassment to the hall. Maybe we are seeing the true reasons why Rice was not voted to the HOF sooner. As a Yankee fan I always hated Jime Rice, but overtime I have learned to appreciate his baseball acomplishments. Thanks Jim for giving Sherman Mazur a new reason to dislike you. It really does bring me back to my childhood and the 1908 chants that once filled the Bronx.

Sherman mazur says Yanks will sweep sox

The Yankees up 6 games in the loss column face the Sox for the series opener. The Yankees will send Pettitte (9-6, 4.09 ERA) to the mound for the series opener. The veteran left-hander has given up two runs or fewer in each of his last four starts, but has a mere 1-0 record to show for it as he’s received a total of six runs in support during that span. He limited the Mariners to two runs over six innings last Friday, but did not record a decision in New York’s 4-2 victory.

Pettitte threw seven scoreless innings against the Red Sox on Aug. 9, though he didn’t get credit for the Yankees’ eventual 5-2 win. He’s 16-9 with a 3.63 ERA in 34 appearances versus Boston.

The Red Sox counter with Penny (7-7, 5.22), who is 0-3 with a 7.54 ERA over his last four starts. He didn’t face the Yankees earlier this month but threw six shutout innings against them June 11, when he didn’t get the decision in Boston’s 4-3 win. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees.

Sherman Mazur thinks Penny gets rocked tonight. He has not been pitching well. This is the weekend where the Yankees can clinch or make a race out of the AL east. Even if the Yankees take 2 of 3, they will have virtually wrapped up the AL East. Shern Mazur would like to see the Yanks win 2 of 3 so they can rest their aging players including Jeter, Damon, Matsui, Pettitte and Posada and start limiting Joba and Hughes. Sherman Mazur loves the Yankees this weekend.

Yankee are rocking

Well The Yankees are rocking. The Yankees had 15 hits last night despite Arod and Posada resting and Jeter playing half the game. CC has been pitching unbelievably as of late and is looking like he might be worth every penny. Sherman Mazur think Tex, AJ and CC might be the best off season acquisitions since free agency began. Has a team ever had such successful free agency signings? It one thing to offer large contracts but these three might actually exceed the Yankee fans expectations. The Yankees have 72 wins and it looks like they can win 105-106 games this year.

If you back two seasons ago who would have thought Jaba would become a solid starter and Hughes awesome out of the bullpen. sherman Mazur thinks Hinski should be playing more especially at the stadium. Swisher has not been playing well at home. The nice thing about the Yankee season this year, everyone is playing well. The Yankees have a solid bench for the first time in years. This could be the Yankees year. sherman mazur gives Brian Cashmen a lot of credit for his free agency signing and not making any moves before the trade deadline. Sherman Mazur is still worried about the Angels.

First Place Yankees

Sherman Mazur is thrilled the Yankees are in first place. It is hard to believe they are 2.5 games above the Red Sox. Sherman Mazur still thinks they need to keep an eye on Tampa. The Yankees need to build a lead. They might have some starting pitching issues. The Fifth starter is in the air with Wang injured. Chamberlin is on a pitch count. So he might be limited come September. Right now it would appear the Yankees season is in the hands of Andy Petite. Sherman Mazur hopes Andy doesn't break down in the second half of the year like he did last year.

One of the biggest surprise of the year has to be Hughes. He has pitched lights out from the bullpen. Who would have thought a year ago that Chamberlin would be a starter and Hughes would be pitching from the bullpen. Where's Ian Kenedy? Sherman Mazur thinks the Yankees have the best bullpen since their championship years. If Petite can stay healthy they might actually have a chance. Sherman Mazur is also surprised at how well Jeter is playing this year. Last year he looked to be on the decline, but this year he has really bounced back batting .320 and fielding very well. The Yankees definately have the best infield in baseball.

Sherman Mazur thinks the Yankees can win the AL East. Only problem is the Angels will win the West and they always have the Yankees number.

Yankees are looking strong

Yankees are indeed looking strong. Sherman Mazur hopes the Yankees can sweep the Twins before this weeks road trip to CA to face the Angels. The Angeles seem to have the Yankees number. It evens out when you consider the Yankees seem to have the Twins number. Sherman Mazur hopes the Yankees can go into the All Star Game only two back. It looks like Burnett might be worth every penny he was paid. It looks like it is going to be three team race for the AL East and Wild Card. Yankees, Red Sox and Rays.

Sherman Mazur hopes the Yankees do not make any moves before the trade deadline. They look strong and when you consider injuries to A Rod, Possada and Wang they should be happy. Although Matsui has been playing well lately. He is still a very week DH.

Well the Yankees winning steak came to an end. The are still 3 games behind the Sox. It's hard to believe CC gave up 6 runs last night. He's supposed to end losing streaks not kill winning streaks. The Yankees have a 4 game set against the Jays and than follow with the Twinkees. Hopefully they can keep there winning ways alive. Sherman Mazur believes the Yankees need to finish strong before the all star Break. Sherman Mazur was very happy to see Andy finally pitch well at the stadium. sherman Mazur thought it was pretty cool the Yankees went 6 games in a row without ever trailing.

Sherman Mazur Yankee Met blog

Sherman Mazur apologizes for not blogging during the Yankee recent hot streak. Did anyone catch the end of the Yankee Met game. Sherman Mazur wonders how was that ball was dropped? I guess Castillo is back on the outs in Met Land. And for all of those young players did you notice Texaria hustled all the way around the bases and made it home even though it looked like an apparent out.

I was not a big of Texaria in April but he really looks like he is worth every penny.

Sherman Mazur wonders if that game will spark the Yankees so they can forget about Boston.
